Uber Power Only is Uber Freight's power only program: you haul a Powerloop trailer, so you don't need to own one. Carriers sign the Uber Freight carrier packet and a Powerloop trailer rental agreement, and Uber Freight approves each carrier's participation. It asks for $1 million in auto liability that covers third-party trailers, $100,000 in all-risk cargo and $1 million in general liability, from insurers rated AM Best A-VII or better. Pay comes by ACH within 30 days of your signed BOL or POD.

Best for
Carriers with a power only truck and no trailer of their own

Our take

Uber Power Only is for a carrier with a power only truck and no trailer. Its coverage list is long: general liability and workers' comp with $1 million in employer liability sit on top of auto and cargo, and every insurer has to be rated A-VII or better.

Inspect every Powerloop trailer before and after each trip and keep the records. Check your cargo policy too, since it can't exclude unattended or unattached trailers, theft, the commodities you haul, reefer breakdown or running out of reefer fuel.

Pros

  • Accepts factoring with written instruction
  • Accepts carriers with no safety rating
  • ACH pay within 30 days of signed paperwork

Cons

  • Requires $1 million in general liability and $1 million in employer liability
  • Cargo policy can't exclude unattended or unattached trailers, theft, commodities, reefer breakdown or running out of reefer fuel
  • A requested check costs 2%
  • Uber Freight has to approve your participation
