Loadsmart is a freight broker that sets carriers up through its carrier portal and CarrierGuide. It asks for $1 million in business auto coverage and $100,000 in cargo from insurers rated A.M. Best A- or higher, with the COI in before your first shipment. It also offers truck factoring at 2.5%.

Best for
Carriers with $1 million auto liability and $100,000 cargo from insurers rated A.M. Best A- or higher

Our take

Setup is short for US carriers: an MC or DOT number, a W9 and the COI. Its safety terms are reporting duties, so tell Loadsmart right away about a Conditional, Unsatisfactory or Unfit rating, or if your BASICs pass CSA intervention thresholds in two or more categories.

For quick pay through TriumphPay, connect a validated account to Loadsmart and set your QuickPay preferences. A 2022 announcement put payment at 24 hours from an approved invoice, so confirm the timing.

Pros

  • Canadian-origin carriers can use their provincial or territorial safety fitness certificate
