Trucking factoring fees: what each company charges

Updated

As of October 2026, factoring companies that publish a rate mostly publish a floor: altLINE's is "as low as 0.90%" and Porter Freight Funding's is "starting at 1.5%". Owners on trucking forums who named their own rate reported 2% to 3% of the invoice. The advance, reserve, transfer fees and contract decide how much of each invoice you keep.

What changes the cost of factoring

The rate is one line. These change what you keep.

Volume

Volume moves the rate. An Outgo customer's rate drops past $18,000, and a BasicBlock customer said the headline rate is 2.5% and they pay less because their volume is good.

Advance and reserve

The advance is what you get up front, and the reserve waits until the broker pays.

Company Advance Reserve
Commerce Commercial Credit 80% to 95% Its example: a 90% advance with a 10% reserve
Thunder Funding Typically 90% to 95% 5% to 10%, held until your customer pays
Outgo 100% None
Bobtail Advertises none
Triumph Advertises none
Truckstop Advertises none

Transfer fees

  • Porter Freight Funding: a $2 transaction fee in its own example
  • Bobtail: extra for expedited payments, with same-day and next-day pay free
  • Wallace Factoring: extra for a wire
  • Truckstop: underwriting and per-invoice fees

One owner reported no ACH fees at OTR Solutions, and an OCC customer negotiated the ACH fee away.

Minimums

1st Commercial Credit lists a $75,000 minimum purchase, and Scale Funding's factoring lines start at $50,000. altLINE, BasicBlock, Riviera Finance and Triumph advertise no minimums.

Leaving the contract

ACS Factors, Outgo and TCE East advertise no termination or cancellation fees. One forum warning said a factor, which it didn't name, was charging $5,000 for early termination.

What owners report paying

These are rates seven owners posted online for their own factoring, one line per owner. They run from 2% to 3% of the invoice.

Factoring company Rate the owner reported Terms they mentioned
OTR Solutions 2% Non-recourse, no ACH fees
OCC 2% The owner negotiated the ACH fee away
BasicBlock 2%
Porter Funding Solutions 2% Non-recourse, which the owner qualified by pointing to the fine print
Truckstop 2.9% Same factor for three years
Outgo 3% up to $18,000, then 2.5% Month to month, which the owner described as no real contract
TAFS 3% From an owner's online review, which says a trailer rental promised before signing was later refused

What a rate costs on a month of loads

The fee is the rate times what you bill. On a steady month of loads:

Rate On $10,000 a month Per year On $20,000 a month Per year
1.5% $150 $1,800 $300 $3,600
2% $200 $2,400 $400 $4,800
2.5% $250 $3,000 $500 $6,000
3% $300 $3,600 $600 $7,200

The gap between 2% and 3% on $20,000 a month is $2,400 a year, before any transfer fees.

Price the offer in front of you. Put the rate, advance, fee per payment and any monthly fee into the factoring calculator. It shows the fee each month and each year, the cash you'd have by day three and the fee as a yearly interest rate, next to a broker's quick pay. Factoring calculator

Get the whole offer in writing

Ask every factoring company for the same lines before you sign: the rate, the advance, the reserve and when it's released, every fee per payment, any minimum and what it costs to leave. Then compare the offers on the same month of loads.

Whether an unpaid invoice comes back to you matters as much as the rate, and recourse vs non-recourse factoring covers it. To weigh factoring against a broker's own fast pay, see quick pay vs factoring. New carriers can start with factoring for a new authority.
