Factoring
Quick pay vs factoring: which costs you less
Updated
Quick pay is a broker paying you early on its own load for a fee, and you choose it load by load. Factoring sells your invoices to a company that advances the money and collects from every broker. Brokers' own pages put quick pay at 1.5% to 5%, and owners on trucking forums who named their own factoring rate reported 2% to 3%.

How quick pay and factoring compare
| Quick pay | Factoring | |
|---|---|---|
| Who pays you early | The broker on that load | A factoring company, on the invoices you sell it |
| Which loads | Only brokers that offer it | Loads from brokers your factor will buy |
| Fee | 1.5% to 5% on brokers' own pages | 2% to 3% in owner reports. Published rates are mostly "as low as" floors |
| How fast | From a same-day start at RXO to 7 days at TQL and PLS | Same day or within 24 hours at most factors that publish a speed |
| Contract | Usually an enrollment, then your choice per load | None at BasicBlock and a 90-day agreement at Thunder Funding. A TAFS customer reported a yearly contract |
| Broker credit checks | Yours to run | Many factors offer them free |
| Who collects | You wait on the broker's terms | The factor collects from the broker |
A factor can turn down a broker's invoices. One owner reported going unpaid on loads from brokers their factor wouldn't take, so check a broker with your factor before you book.
Quick pay terms on brokers' own pages
These are fees and timing from each broker's own carrier pages, checked October 17, 2026. The full table is on freight brokers that pay fast.
| Broker | How fast | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| J.B. Hunt | 2 business days | 1.5%, waived on Carrier 360 bookings |
| Trinity Logistics | 2 business days | 1.5% |
| Werner | Next day or 5 days | 2.5% next day, 1.5% for 5 days |
| C.H. Robinson | As little as 2 business days | 2% |
| Schneider | 2 days | 2% |
| Arrive Logistics | 2 days, through TriumphPay | 2% |
| Uber Freight | 2 business days after your POD is approved | 2.5% of the whole invoice |
| RXO | Starts the same day | 2.5% |
| TQL | 1 day or 7 days | 5% or 3% |
| Spot | 2 business days | 5%, or $10 if that's more |
A few brokers pay fast with no fee:
- Amazon Relay pays weekly, on the Friday after your load week.
- ATS Logistics pays in three to five business days if you invoice within 10 days of delivery.
- Supply Chain Management pays in a week by electronic transfer.
- Marten pays its preferred carriers in 14 days.
What changes with brokers when you factor
Once a factoring company is on your file, some brokers change your terms:
- Spot offers quick pay only to carriers with no factoring company on file.
- Uber Freight pays quick pay to your own bank account by ACH, without a factor.
- RXO keeps factored carriers on standard pay, 30 days after your invoice and signed POD. They can't use its 4% AdvancePay either.
- Allen Lund pays in 14 days direct and 30 days if you factor, and its factoring setup needs written permission for advances.
- OpenRoad Global pays in 30 days, or 35 days if you factor.
Brokers that take factored invoices may ask for a notice of assignment (NOA), which tells the broker to pay your factor. CEVA requires one, and OpenRoad Global routes the NOA and release through TriumphPay.
What each costs on a month of loads
| On $15,000 a month | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| Quick pay at 2% on every load | $300 | $3,600 |
| Factoring at 3% | $450 | $5,400 |
Quick pay covers only loads from brokers that offer it, while factoring covers every broker your factor approves. One owner said the quick pay offers they get have averaged around 2%, less than factoring.
Small charges change the math on both sides:
- Quick pay. Allen Lund charges 2% or $25, whichever is more. England Logistics charges $10 per invoice for a Com-check.
- Factoring. Porter Freight Funding's own example includes a $2 transaction fee, Wallace Factoring charges for wires, Bobtail charges for expedited payments and Truckstop adds underwriting and per-invoice fees.
Compare reserves, minimums, termination terms and hidden fees before you sign.
Which one fits
- Quick pay fits when most of your loads come from a few brokers that publish it, especially at 1.5% to 2%. You keep the choice load by load.
- Factoring fits when you haul for many brokers, need cash from every load or want someone else to check credit and collect. Factor only when it solves a real cash-flow problem.
- Waiting fits when you can cover fuel and bills until the broker pays. Standard terms on brokers' own pages include 21 days at Giltner Logistics and 35 days at Longship.
Before you factor, read factoring fees for what else comes off each invoice and recourse vs non-recourse factoring for who carries an unpaid invoice.
Run both on your own numbers. The factoring calculator puts a factoring offer, a broker's quick pay and waiting for normal terms side by side on the same month of loads. It shows each fee in dollars, the cash you'd have by day three and the fee as a yearly interest rate. Factoring calculator
