FRAYT takes gig drivers in their own personal vehicles, and it signs box truck carriers that hold an active motor carrier permit and DOT number. Sign-up happens in the FRAYT driver app, with box carriers also going through Highway during review. Box trucks need $100,000 in cargo, and a box truck over 10,000 GVW also needs $1 million in auto liability. Smaller vehicles follow your home state's minimum auto limits. Pay runs through the Branch app.

Best for
Van drivers using their own vehicles and box truck carriers with a DOT number

Our take

Cargo vans, sprinter vans and small box trucks have the easiest path, since your state's minimum auto limits cover them. Box trucks take more paperwork, starting with your own permit and DOT number.

On box trucks, FRAYT wants a dock high box, prefers a lift gate and suggests carrying a pallet jack. Before your first run, ask how long Branch payments take to land.

Pros

  • Gig drivers and box truck carriers can both sign up
  • Small vehicles run on your state's minimum auto limits

Cons

  • $100,000 cargo on any box truck, plus $1 million in liability above 10,000 GVW
  • A dock high box is required for box trucks
  • Box carriers need an in-state license and registration for their market

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my own authority to drive for FRAYT?

For a box truck, yes. FRAYT wants an active motor carrier permit and DOT number there, plus insurance, an in-state license and the truck registration for your market. Gig drivers can use their own personal vehicles.

What insurance does FRAYT require?

Box trucks need $100,000 in cargo, and a box truck over 10,000 GVW also needs $1 million in auto liability. Under 10,000 GVW, your home state's minimum auto limits apply. Florida-domiciled drivers need at least $25,000 bodily injury per person, $50,000 per accident and $25,000 property damage.

How does FRAYT pay?

Through the Branch app. Ask how long a Branch payment takes to reach your bank before you count on it.

What vehicles does FRAYT use?

Cargo vans, sprinter vans and box trucks. If you run a box truck over 10,000 GVW, it needs a dock high box, and FRAYT would rather it had a lift gate too.
